The project truly embraces the Grove spirit and its philosophy of community, art, and sustainability, being the first LEED Gold-certified residential development in Miami-Dade County.
The 20-story tall twin towers host 98 expansive residences ranging from 4 to 6 bedrooms, each featuring 12-foot deep balconies that offer built-in shade even with the floor-to-ceiling window walls surrounding each residence.
A collaboration between visionaries from Terra Development, design architects from the Bjarke Ingels Group, and the executive architects from Nichols Architects, Grove at Grand Bay’s iconic twisting towers posed several structural challenges due to its ingenious design.
The towers don’t just appear to twist; each floor is actually rotated relative to the one below. There is a 38-degree shift between the lowest and highest floors, making the standard corner-column construction method unsuitable. Instead, construction and engineering had to counteract the torsion caused by the sloping column geometry. Under the supervision of Nichols Architects, all teams collaborated to successfully complete the project, earning several awards.
The site where the condominium now sits was once home of Miami’s first 5-stars hotel, designed by Nichols Architects team back in 1982.
