The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is partnering with Black Architects in the Making (BAM), a Miami-based initiative that creates pathways to architect for Black youth, to bring its Design Your World (DYW) educational program to South Florida.
DYW is a summer program created to promote equity in the design industry by providing students of various racial and ethnic backgrounds access to commercial interior design curriculum. Through hands-on projects, field trips and practical learning sessions, participants will also be introduced to interior design business practices and career specializations.
The program first launched last year in Chicago and will return for a second year, adding Miami as an additional program site with support from the IIDA South Florida chapter.
“The vibrancy of a multi-cultural city, its energy as a design capital, and a serious dedication to the power of education, all contribute to making Miami the ideal location for the next iteration of this program,” said Cheryl S. Durst, IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO.
