Two 120-foot towers designed by Nichols Architects would rise on Bokamper’s site – Sun Sentinel
Here are the latest hotel details.
The spot along the Intracoastal that’s now home to Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill may get a new tenant: The Mile Hotel, with one 120-foot tower on the west overlooking the water and another 120-foot tower to the east.
Bokamper’s would be torn down, but is expected to reopen on the ground floor of the 250-room Mile Hotel West once it’s built. The neighboring Mile Hotel East would feature 70 hotel rooms built atop a parking garage.
Integra Real Estate came up with the vision for the project. It does not require commission approval, but might come before the five-member board if a majority of the commission agrees to call it up for a vote.
“What I’m hearing is that the merchants are all very excited about it,” said Commissioner John Herbst, whose district includes the neighborhood. “They’re looking forward to having that traffic and that activity to help bring more people to the businesses and more economic activity to an area that’s trying to revitalize.”
Mile Hotel West at 3115 NE 32nd Ave. calls for 250 hotel rooms and 18,500 square feet of restaurant space on the ground floor. The estimated project cost: $121.5 million.
“The proposed Mile Hotel seeks to serve a need in the Galt area for an upscale hotel with waterfront restaurant uses; and retail uses designed to serve as amenities to the neighboring commercial, residential and tourist serving facilities,” according to development documents submitted to the city.
