New Art Installation Brings Butterflies to Downtown Miami – Designboom

Wed Jan 08 2025

In downtown Miami, the rooftop of the Southeast Financial Center (SEFC) now hosts the city’s largest rooftop mural—a vibrant celebration of biodiversity. The Miami Collection, created by French artist Youri Cansell, known as Mantra, was curated by the Justkids art consulting firm. Spanning 3,250 square meters, the monumental artwork took six weeks to complete, requiring 400 hours of work and 200 gallons of paint.

Visible from the windows and balconies of three Nichols Architects projects, the mural is adjacent to the dynamic Metropolitan Miami multi-phase development, brought to life by MDM and ZOM. Nichols Architects designed and oversaw the construction of MET1, MET2 (home to the Marriott Marquis and Wells Fargo Center), MET3 (featuring Whole Foods), and MET Square, which combines residential living with Silverspot Cinema at ground level.

Residents and visitors of these projects enjoy unparalleled views of this stunning installation, which has no set time limit for its display.
