The Fontainebleau Miami Beach broke ground on an adjoining event and convention center, designed by Nichols Architects, thanks to a $72.8 million construction loan.

Aventura-based Fontainebleau Construction, which is related to the property owner, recently filed notice with the county that it started work on the five-story conference center. The 50,000-square-foot event center will be connected to the hotel via a sky bridge. It will feature two ballrooms, 10 breakout rooms, and a 9,000-square-foot roof deck.

Coral Gables-based Nichols Architects designed the project.

It should be completed in 2025.
